Itinerary

Day 1: Sacred Valley – Maras Moray

We will pick you up from your hotel between 6:40 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. to begin our tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, including Moray and the Maras Salt Mines.

With this full-day excursion, you will have the great opportunity to visit the entire Sacred Valley, starting with the beautiful colonial and Inca town of Chinchero (3,762 m.a.s.l.), where you will enjoy panoramic views and witness the Inca and colonial legacies that still remain in this charming place. You will also have the chance to appreciate traditional textile art made by local residents who continue to preserve their ancestral weaving techniques. Chinchero offers a spectacular view that will amaze anyone, leaving unforgettable memories.

We will then head to the archaeological complex of Moray, located in the district of Maras (3,300 m.a.s.l.). This site showcases the most impressive and unique Inca agricultural laboratory, where the Incas experimented with different altitudes and microclimates to develop various crops. The history of this site is fascinating, and the view is truly breathtaking.

Next, we will visit the Maras Salt Mines, a stunning collection of approximately 3,000 salt ponds that have been exploited by local inhabitants since pre-Inca times. You won’t regret witnessing this unique landscape—be sure to take plenty of photos of this incredible place!

Our next stop will be Urubamba (2,871 m.a.s.l.), where we will enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we will continue to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo (2,792 m.a.s.l.), known as the “Living Inca City”, as it is the only town in Cusco that has been continuously inhabited since Inca times. In addition to its impressive archaeological complex, you will be amazed by the extraordinary urban planning, which remains intact and still in use by current residents. The cobblestone streets of Ollantaytambo will undoubtedly captivate you.

Finally, we will visit Pisac (2,900 m.a.s.l.), one of the most important agricultural and spiritual centers of the Sacred Valley. From its archaeological complex, you will enjoy a privileged view of the Vilcanota River and much of the valley. We will then explore the Pisac handicraft market, one of the most popular in Cusco—perfect for purchasing souvenirs and crafts at the best prices.

Visiting the Sacred Valley of the Incas is an excellent opportunity to learn about Peru’s history, culture, and living traditions. It is an interesting, cultural, and memorable experience that is truly worth living.
