Overview
Choquequirao is located in the foothills of the Salkantay mountain range, at 3030 masl along the mountain range and surrounded by the Apus Yanama, Ampay, Chokecarpu, Pumasiyo and Panta, on the left bank of the Apurimac River. At the time of the Incas, he was united with Machu Picchu by a complex network of trails. The reasons to visit them are many: the fantastic nature with valleys, mountains covered with snow and the wide variety of plants, birds and animals.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Inka Jungle Trek – Abra Málaga – Santa Maria – Santa Teresa
You will be picked up from the hotel at 7 am and we will travel by private tourist bus for 3 hours to Abra Málaga (4300 masl) We will make a short stop to appreciate the landscape then we will start with our Down Hill bike for 3 hours approx. On the way we will see a small Huamanmarca archaeological complex and also the changing climate of Ceja de Selva we will be able to appreciate coca plantations, coffee and exotic fruits such as mango, pineapple and papaya which you can collect and enjoy its natural flavor. We arrive at Santa María Pequeno Poblado and where you have the option of boating, then we take a 2-hour transport to Santa Teresa where we will spend the night and you have the option of visiting the Cocalmayo Thermal Medicinal Baths.
Day 2: Inca Trail – Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes “Pueblo de Machupicchu
Very early breakfast after the guide’s instructions we started with the walk of 2 hours approx. to the place called hydroelectric (from here it is possible to take a train to Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu town) with an additional cost) then we will walk 3 more hours until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes on the way you can see various insects and walk along the shores of the River and with an impressive landscape and can be seen in the distance the Putucusi mountain and San Miguel finally arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes at night dinner where our guide will inform us in detail about our tours to Machu Picchu, overnight in basic hotel with private bathroom and water hot (village of Machupicchu).
Day 3: Tours to Machu Picchu – Tour Cusco
This day we will get up very early and at 4:30 am we will start with a 1:30 minute walk arriving at Machu Picchu at 6 am. You will have a 2-hour guided tour in the main sectors of Machupicchu (they can go to Waynapicchu tickets are booked in advance) then you will have free time approx. Until 4:30 pm time when Machupicchu closes the Inca citadel. At the time indicated by your guide, you will take the train to Ollantaytambo and from where we will pick you up by bus arriving at the city of Cusco approx. in 4 hours
Included:
- Instead of sleeping in small tents, we set up our 4-person tent for 2 people for added comfort.
- Meals as indicated in the itinerary (4x breakfast, 4x lunch, 3x dinner).
- Professional cook and kitchen equipment. Dining tent and kitchen tent for the cook to prepare his meals on time.
- Our meals can be adapted to any dietary requirements, such as vegetarian or vegan. Let us know in advance if you have certain preferences, so we can plan ahead.

- All of our trekking guides have a minimum of 3 years of experience as guides and are certified. They carry a first aid kit, as well as an extra oxygen bottle in case of emergencies.
- We provide canvas bags in your information session for your personal items (up to 5 kg per person).

- INFORMATIVE MEETING: You will have a meeting with your guide in our office to review all the details about your tour. The orientation will be Between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. In our office in Cusco the day before departure.
