Overview
The Inca Jungle Tour of 4 days and 3 nights, is an exciting adventure in the Cusco region, it is an alternate Inca path to reach Machu Picchu. This adventure includes a day by bike and 3 hiking, crossing mountains and the high jungle, rivers, native towns, coca plantations, coffee and an immense variety of fruit trees, you will walk through beautiful parts of Inca roads, finishing the second day of hiking with a Relaxing and healthy bathing in the Cocalmayo hot springs (100% recommended), at the end of the tour Machu Picchu will be visited at its best.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Inka Jungle Trail – Abra Málaga – Santa Maria – Inca Trail
You will be picked up from the hotel at 7:30 am and we will travel by private tourist bus for 3 hours to Abra Málaga (4300 masl) We will make a short stop to appreciate the landscape then we will start with our Downhill bike descent for approximately 3 hours (Inka Jungle Trail). On the way we will see a small Huamanmarca archaeological complex and also the changing climate of Ceja de Selva we will be able to appreciate coca plantations, coffee and exotic fruits such as mango, pineapple and papaya which you can collect and enjoy its natural flavor. We arrive at Santa María Pequeno Poblado where we spend the night in Basic Hostel.
Day 2: Santa María – Inca Trail – Santa Teresa – Thermal Baths.
After breakfast we are ready to walk this day is a bit long but rewarding we will find parts of the original Inca road we will see waterfalls and abundant flora and fauna and almost in the afternoon we will visit the natural medicinal baths of Cocal Mayo and you can relax by having an energy drink such as Cuzco beer. Dinner and overnight in Santa Teresa small tourist town famous for its thermal baths and its friendly and particularly hospitable people.
Day 3: Santa Teresa – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu Pueblo)
Very early breakfast after the guide’s instructions we started with the walk of 2 hours approx. to the place called hydroelectric (from here it is possible to take a train to Aguas Calientes “Pueblo de Machupicchu” with an additional cost), then we will walk from Inka Jungle to Machu Picchu for about 3 more hours until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu town) On the way you can see various insects and you walk along the banks of the river and with an impressive landscape and you can see the Putucusi mountain and San Miguel in the distance we finally arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes at night a dinner where our Guide will inform us in detail about our tours in Machu Picchu, overnight in basic hotel with private bathroom and hot water.
Day 4: Tour Machu Picchu – Cusco.
This day we will get up very early and at 4:30 am we will start with a 1:30-minute walk to Machu Picchu at Machu Picchu at 6 am. You will have a 2-hour guided tour in the main sectors of Machu Picchu (there is the possibility to go to Waynapicchu, tickets are booked in advance) then you will have free time approximately until 4:30 pm when the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu closes. At the time indicated by your guide, you will take the train to Ollantaytambo and from where we will pick you up by bus arriving at Cusco approx. in 4 hours.
