Overview
The word waqrapukara is a Quechua word: waqra = horn, pucara = fortress. The residents of Llamapuka assure that they are not horns but are the ears stopped of a flame that alerts the presence of foreigners. It is divided into 2 parts: the upper part where the rocky spur is located where you can see 2 enclosures separated by a central space, we can also observe niches and portals, all these constructions are of ceremonial functionality. The lowest part made up of Anderia Inca, 5 enclosures and niches.
Itinerary
Day 1: Waqrapukara
The tour starts with the pick up from the hotel between 4:30 am to 5:00 am and then we head south to the village of Cusipata where we will have a delicious semi buffet breakfast. We will continue traveling about 2:30 hours until the beginning of the hike called Santa Lucia. During the hike we will be able to appreciate a great amount of flora and fauna typical of the area until we arrive at our destination Waqrapukara average hike 1: 30 hours, when we arrive at our destination we will have time to have our lunch (Box Lucha) that they give us at the beginning of the hike, at the end of the lunch we will have a guided tour, visiting the following places: Intipunku (“Guerta del Sol”), main square, towers, terraces, Wiracocha’s enclosure. After the visit to Waqrapukara we will return to Santa Lucia where the vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to Cusco.
