Humantay Lagoon
Humantay Lagoon
Overview
Humantay is one of the snow-capped mountains in the Vilcabamba mountain range, and the melting of its glacier forms a beautiful turquoise lagoon that can be visited by those who enjoy a bit of hiking and being surrounded by mountains. During the tour, you will visit the Humantay Lagoon area, one of the most stunning natural attractions near Cusco. Throughout the journey, we provide professional service, guided by experienced local guides and transported in modern and safe vehicles. You will also have the opportunity to taste delicious local dishes, as the tour includes breakfast and lunch.
Itinerary
Day 1: Humantay Lagoon

We will pick up all participants from their respective hotels between 4:20 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Then, we will head to the town of Mollepata by bus, a journey of approximately 2 hours, where we will stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious breakfast.
Afterward, we’ll continue by the same bus along a dirt road for about 1 more hour, until we reach the starting point of the hike — Soraypampa, located at 3,800 meters above sea level. Once there, we will stop at the control point to pay the entrance fee to the community (20 soles for foreigners and 10 soles for Peruvians).
We’ll then prepare to begin our hike to Humantay Lagoon, which takes around 2 hours uphill, covering an approximate distance of 3 kilometers.
Upon reaching the Humantay Lagoon, you will have enough time to take stunning photos, listen to the guide’s explanations, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the area.
The stay at the lagoon usually lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the weather conditions. Sometimes it can be cloudy, foggy, or rainy — and quite cold — which may shorten the visit to about 30 minutes. If the day is sunny and clear, you’ll be able to stay for about an hour, enough time to admire the beauty of this magical place.
Afterward, we’ll prepare for the descent back to the starting point, where the hike concludes. Then, we’ll take the bus back to Mollepata (approximately 1 hour), where we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch.
Finally, we will return to Cusco, a journey of about 2 hours, arriving in the city in the afternoon.
